Online research resources
I've been making solid use of a lot of different online research resources recently, which I thought I ought to share, just in case not everyone has come across them all before. Some require Athens logins and some can only be accessed via the UoL Library website. There is also an historical bent to some of those listed here which won't appeal to all of you. Fairly comprehensive database of journal articles, easy to navigate
Taylor & Francis Informaworld
Requires an Athens login to get free access to materials
New site, offers access to journals, eBooks and reference works
Google Book Search
Free access
The best thing ever, providing you're not a publisher! ;)
Google have digitised a range of books and put them in a searchable format online. Where books are subject to copyright, you may only be able to download a few pages of each book, but older books, out of copyright, can be downloaded in their entirety (though you may have to do a bit of detective work across the site to find each section). Particularly useful if you are looking at nineteenth century publications. But also a great tool if you want to check out the usefulness of a publication before you buy it, or get it on inter-Library loan.

Search and order journal articles online
Useful if you've used up your inter-Library loan quota, but not free, so it's worth seeing if there's any other way of getting the article you need before resorting to this option.
The final two are quite specialised and were forwarded to me by my London-based spy. ;)
Early English Books Online (EEBO)
A similar project to Google Book Search, which requires an Athens login.
Does exactly what it says on the tin - searchable database of Early English books
Eighteenth-Century Collections Online (ECCO)
Requires Athens login
Similar to EEBO, only offers a database of eighteenth century works instead.
